All about Augusta Technical College

Augusta Technical College in Georgia was founded in 1981 and is under the supervision of the State Board of Technical Adult Education. The college is an equal opportunity education provider and has a strict non-discrimination policy in all departments and activities, such as admissions, scholarships and loan programs, athletics, hiring of teaching and non-teaching staff, and contracting of goods and services.

Courses Offered at Augusta Technical College

The college offers certificate, diploma and degree courses in Allied Health Sciences and Nursing, Business and Personal Services, Information & Engineering Technology and Industrial Technology. It is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges. Augusta Technical College trains students to be professionals in various fields and further empowers them to think critically and creatively. The college also emphasizes decision-making skills and excellent communication skills— both oral and written, which gives students an edge in the job market.

Each program has an adviser whom the students can consult in case they encounter any difficulty during the semester. The e-mail address for each program’s adviser is available on the college’s official website.

Adult classes are available in General Education Development (GED), the English Literacy Program (EPL), family literacy, and workplace literacy. All interested adults should register for the classes at the Adult Education Admissions office located within the college.

Online and Distant Learning

The college offers e-learning for some courses. Some programs have a complete e-syllabus while others have a partial syllabus online. This offers student who cannot attend full time classes due to distance or other responsibilities an alternative flexible option. Faculty e-mail addresses are available to students on the distant learning program, which allows for interactive communication between students and lecturers.


Augusta Technical College serves every applicant on a first-come, first-served basis with an exception on competitive programs that give priority to ones level of qualification. Financial aid is available to students through the Georgia Hope Scholarship Grant, Pell federal Grants, and federal student loans, and a number of other local scholarship opportunities.

Students who have previously been dismissed or suspended from the college due to irregularities can re-enroll at the beginning of any semester after completion of the suspension or dismissal period. Those who fail to re-enroll after two quarters must re-apply for new admissions. Once a student has been re-admitted, they must complete their current program within the required time in order to graduate. However, new students get priority in admission over previously suspended students.

Entrance requirements

Each applicant must be 16 years old to apply into any course. However, for                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 Cosmetology and Allied Health programs, the applicant must be 17 years old. All associate degree programs and some diploma and technical certificate programs require that each applicant must be a high school graduates or have a General Equivalency Development (GED) certificate. Applicants must also take and pass the COMPASS Test, the Standard Aptitude Test (SAT) or the American College Test (ACT).
